The federal government is cutting off millions of dollars in homeless funding to Los Angeles due to allegations of fraud and financial mismanagement.

Officials with the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development says it's suspending money that normally goes to the Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority (LAHSA) while it investigates the allegations.

In a letter obtained by the Los Angeles Times, departments officials write, “It’s HUD’s duty to ensure that CofC Program funds are being used as intended - to reduce homelessness. Today’s action is done in furtherance of that duty to protect HUD, the public, and homeless individuals and families.”
