HUNTINGTON PARK (CNS) - A fire heavily damaged a commercial building in Huntington Park today but no one was hurt.

Firefighters were sent to Slauson Avenue and Soto Street about 4:45 a.m., according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department.

The flames burned through the building's roof, which partially collapsed, and the firefighters went into a defensive operation, working to prevent the flames from spreading to other structures.

After about 90 minutes, the firefighters had apparently made good progress in extinguishing the fire, but crews remained on scene working to completely douse the flames.

The cause of the fire was under investigation.
