A fire damaged an apartment building in Van Nuys Tuesday and left two people with possible medical problems.
Firefighters sent to the 15300 block of West Vanowen Street at 9:44 a.m. extinguished the flames in the three-story building in 22 minutes, the Los Angeles Fire Department reported.

"Two civilians were medically evaluated -- one for possible smoke exposure, and another with an unspecified medical complaint," an LAFD statement said. "One of the patients has been transported to an area hospital."
The cause of the fire was under investigation.
