A new service station is open in Santa Ana – and it’s not serving up gas.

Rove is the first full-service public charging station built solely for electric vehicles. It includes 40 chargers, an attendant to help you plug in, a car wash, a waiting lounge with WiFi, and a Gelson’s convenience store that even serves sushi.

“It's purpose-built for EVs. It’s not an afterthought. We’re not chargers in the back of a mall or something like that,” Rove CEO Bill Reid told KNX News’ Karen Adams. “All the original founders were frustrated EV drivers and said there’s got to be a better way.”

Reid said the station is equipped to charge any make and model of electric vehicle. Charging costs either 39 or 58 cents per kilowatt hour depending on your type of vehicle.
