The fire was reported at 12:50 a.m. at 20020 W. Parthenia St., said the Los Angeles Fire Department's Brian Humphrey.

The single-story home was fully involved in flames when firefighters arrived, Humphrey said. They took up defensive positions outside the house to drown the fire with water and protect nearby homes.

The flames were out at 1:19 a.m. with no injuries reported, he said.

"One nearby residence did sustain superficial damage from the intense heat and flames," Humphrey said. The fire also charred nearby vegetation.

The cause of the blaze was under investigation, he said.
