
The retrial of former UCLA gynecologist James Heaps was rescheduled to October 16.

Heaps was accused of sexually abusing two patients. In October 2023, he was convicted of five counts of sexual abuse; however, he was acquitted of three counts each of sexual penetration of an unconscious person and sexual battery by fraud, and one count of sexual exploitation of a patient, according to City News Service.
A mistrial was declared on the remaining nine counts, which were three counts of sexual battery by fraud, four counts of sexual penetration of an unconscious person, and two counts of sexual exploitation of a patient.
He was sentenced to 11 years in prison in April 2023.
