Four people were rushed to the hospital Tuesday morning after a crash sent one car plowing into a homeless encampment in Koreatown.
Three of the men injured were in the car that ended up on top of the homeless encampment, fire officials said. One injured person was a man who was sleeping in the encampment when the car crashed, trapping him beneath it.
Investigators said the two-vehicle crash happened around 6 a.m., sending a white sedan veering onto the sidewalk and into the group of people sleeping outside of Grand Medical Center 3 on South Virgil Avenue in Rampart Village.
The man trapped beneath the vehicle was taken to the hospital and is in serious condition, according to Chief Antoine McKnight with the Los Angeles Fire Department. McKnight said the three men in the car were taken to the hospital in fair condition.
At this point it is still unclear what caused the crash.
