Franklin Fire containment in Malibu at 89%

Strong, sustained winds hit Malibu on Wednesday as firefighters continued to work to contain the Franklin Fire.

As of Wednesday morning, containment on the Franklin Fire was at 89%, according to CalFire.

A wind advisory is in effect in areas such as the Malibu Coast, Ventura County, and Calabasas and Agoura Hills through 6 p.m. Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service.

A fire weather warning also went into effect in Los Angeles and Ventura counties until 6 p.m. Wednesday “due to moderate to locally strong Santa Ana winds and low humidities,” according to NWS.

Meanwhile, nearly 1,000 SoCal Edison customers are starting the day without electricity. On Tuesday afternoon, the utility company issued a Public Safety Power Shutoff monitoring notice through Wednesday night due to high winds.

Impacted areas include, Maguire, Serra, and Cuthbert.
