Soon, as many as 1,500 young people a week will have access to free education in a variety of tech-related subjects thanks to a new TUMO Center coming to North Hollywood.
As KNX News' Craig Fiegener reports, the TUMO Center for Creative Technologies is essentially a boys and girls clubs where teenagers can learn free of charge - everything from game development to animation, filmmaking, to robotics.
L.A. City Council President Paul Krekorian said the nonprofit coming to his district, is funded in large part with $23 million in grant money from the State of California.

If we don't continue to foster that talent and bring that talent up and connect these young people to this industry, then we won't keep that industry here in Los Angeles any longer," said Krekorian.
Krekorian's office said the center is expected to open in December 2024.
If you have never heard of a TUMO Center, it's likely because the forthcoming NoHo location is the first in America.
Globally, it's estimated that TUMO Centers educate 25,000 young people weekly. This location in North Hollywood makes the United States the ninth country with a TUMO.
