Gatsby Books, an independent bookstore in Long Beach, is shutting its doors after 14 years.
The bookstore announced it was closing on its Facebook page on Tuesday.
“Over the next couple of months, we will be selling everything – even the bookcases!” the post read.
In the past, the store has held poetry readings and workshops, and hosted plenty of local authors.
Mary Dixon, an employee at the bookstore, told KNX News’ Nataly Tavidian the store’s manager, Sean, is off to new ventures.
“He doesn't have time. He's moving on to other projects,” she said.
Brian, a regular at the store, said he’s sad to see it go.
“Got a lot of great books here which created lots of great memories,” he said.
For customers worried about the bookstore’s cat, Ruby, Dixon said she would be taken care of.
The bookstore is set to close in the summer.
