Recently expelled Rep. George Santos (R-N.Y.) is pitching himself for a return to politics, but this time in a role in former President Trump’s potential cabinet.
In a post on social media, Santos said that he would like to work for Trump, if he wins the upcoming election, as the director of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
“My new year resolution is that President Trump returns to the white house and in 2025 I can be appointed Director of ICE,” Santos wrote in a post on X. “Enough abuse and disregard for our sovereignty, we are the United States OF America and not a global dumping hub. ICE has had their hands tied for far too long with the sole exception of the great four years of DJT.”
He continued saying that “the time is now” and that he has what it takes to fill the role, being a “fearless person and not a coward.”
Since he was expelled from office in a 311-114-2 vote last month, Santos has made several appearances and begun offering personal videos on the paid service Cameo.
The expulsion of the representative came as he faced 23 federal criminal charges related to allegations that he misled donors, lied on House financial disclosures, fraudulently received unemployment benefits, and charged his donors’ credit cards without authorization.
He has pleaded not guilty to all charges.
The House Ethics Committee also released a scathing report that found evidence that Santos committed serious crimes.
After being expelled, Santos vowed that he would never return to Congress, but he recently admitted to considering running again.
Still, in his proposal to President Trump, Santos said he knew “exactly” what was needed to lead the organization.
“It’s time to reclaim our country and if you believe the nonsense numbers the media is giving you then you are accepting the big lie! We have over 50M+ people who have invaded our sovereignty over the years due to careless and neglectful immigration policy, if given the job I know exactly where to start and run the much needed raids of removals proceedings this country needs,” Santos wrote.
