A group in Los Angeles is helping a Jewish musician put on a concert in Beverly Hills after he had two shows cancelled due to security concerns.

Matisyahu had two shows canceled in Arizona and New Mexico in February, according to NBC News.

The musician wrote on X that “The staff at these venues refused to come to work, forcing cancellations” despite him and his band offering to help out with the shortage on their own dime.

“They do this because they are either anti-Semitic or have confused their empathy for the Palestinian people with hatred for someone like me who holds empathy for both Israelis and Palestinians,” he wrote.

The group, If You Heard What I Heard, decided to step in and help. Carolyn Segel is with the organization.

She told KNX News’ Emily Valdez the group felt compelled to help him out.

“For a lot of us seeing this Jewish artist, this Zionist have his shows canceled for no other reason than he was Jewish was deeply troubling and we wanted to do something about it and we thought what we need to come together right now and show that we are resilient people and nobody and nothing is going to stop us from being Jewish,” she said.

The concert will be held May 8 in Beverly Hills. The venue will be revealed to those who buy tickets. Tickets begin at $54 but 50 tickets will go for free to Jewish students at USC and UCLA.

All proceeds will go to benefit If You Heard What I Heard.
