'Hamilton' resumes Hollywood performances at Pantages Theatre

LOS ANGELES (KNX) — A Hollywood landmark is turning the lights back on Wednesday night, with COVID-19 protocols in place for the in-person return of "Hamilton" to the Pantages Theatre stage.

"Coming back into a venue like this, especially during this time, can make folks feel a little bit uneasy," said House Manager Pat Payne in a video statement.

"I just want to reassure everyone that the uneasiness that you feel is something that we've been doing our utmost to address and we're doing it in a way that will keep both our patrons and staff safe."

First performed in 2015, "Hamilton" is the tale of America's founding father, Alexander Hamilton, sung and rapped through the words of Lin-Manuel Miranda.

Performances of the show were set to begin in March 2020, just as the coronavirus pandemic hit. But cast members and the theatre soon realized that they would have to pivot, as transmission surged across the United States.

The production ultimately opened on Aug. 17, 2021 but had to hit pause in December after "backstage" breakthrough cases were discovered, according to a statement from Broadway in Hollywood.

The show re-opens Wednesday night and will continue through Sunday, March 20.

All guests will be required to wear masks while not actively eating or drinking and will be required to show proof of vaccination or a negative COVID-19 PCR test from within 48 hours or a rapid antigen tests performed within 12 hours before they are allowed to enter the theatre. Outside of regular ticket sales, Broadway in Hollywood is also throwing "Neighborhood Night" next Wednesday.

Discounted tickets, which will cost $49 per person, will include a pre-show event at the Wood & Vine restaurant across the street, in addition to treats from other participating vendors. To learn more, click here.
