
LOS ANGELES (KNX) — Residents of Southern California should brace for another onslaught of high winds to batter the region in the coming days, according to the National Weather Service.
Through Thursday, gusts of up to 60 miles per hour were forecasted for parts of Ventura and Los Angeles counties, with strongest wind speeds expected in mountain regions, weaker speeds expected in the valleys and coasts.
Gusts in Montecito Hills were reported to reach 68 miles per hour late Tuesday.
Gusts of up to 40 miles per hour were expected for the San Gabriel Valley foothills.
From Friday to Sunday, residents of L.A. and Ventura counties can expect to experience gusts of up to 45 miles per hour, with strongest winds prevailing Friday.
Winds were expected to be lower in Orange County, with an advisory in effect only through noon on Thursday. Winds between 25 and 25 miles per hour were forecasted for the region, with gusts up to 55 miles per hour.
Conditions in parts of San Bernardino County were expected to be more severe. NWS' San Diego field office said winds moving out of L.A. County and into Inland Empire mountain communities could produce gusts of up to 70 miles per hour on Wednesday.
Drivers were warned to expect hazardous cross winds on area roads, and to look out for possible downed trees, tree limbs, and powerlines.
