Officers were sent to Hollywood Boulevard and Western Avenue about 12:15 p.m. Oct. 15 on a report of a shooting, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

"Upon arrival, officers located a woman who had been shot," police said in a statement. "She was transported to a local hospital and treated for non-life-threatening gunshot wounds.

"During the investigation, detectives learned the victim had been in the process of renting a scooter when the suspect approached her and initiated an argument," the police statement said. "The suspect then fired multiple shots at the victim with a semi-automatic handgun before fleeing southbound on Western Avenue."

According to police, a passerby who witnessed the shooting photographed the suspect as he fled the scene. The alleged gunman was described as Hispanic, 20-30 years old, 5 feet, 5 inches to 5 feet, 8 inches tall, between 130 and 160 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes.

"Detectives are releasing the images of the suspect in hopes of identifying him," the police statement said.

Anyone with information on the crime was urged to call Detective Greg Papik at 213-972-2971, or 877-LAPD-247. Tipsters may also call Crime Stoppers at 800-222-TIPS.
