The lack of water is a big problem for at least four stables in Granada Hills.
Tamara Brown, one of the boarders at Hillcrest Ranch, told KNX News’ Emily Valdez she’s a little stressed out about the 40 horses at the ranch.
“ Horses have very delicate digestive systems, and anything that creates an issue for that can lead to a serious, even death, situation,” she said.
The owner called LADWP to try to get a water truck up here, and they told her she could get bottled water.
“It's not even enough for half a horse,” Brown said. “No DWP in sight. There's nobody even asking, ‘Do you guys need help?’ Like this is not our problem. This is DWP's problem, so they should be reaching out to areas like ranches like us because, like I said before, we don't have the capability to boil water. I mean, now we don't even have water.”
Laura Sage at Tom’s Place said they don’t have water either.

“Horses colic very easily in hot weather, and then when there's not adequate water, the potential for colic is even worse,” she said. “Horses can't exist without water. They drink, 10 to 20 gallons a day.”
Laura said she bought a 250-gallon water tank and filled it up to give to the horses at the stable. She says she’ll continue to go back and forth until the issue is resolved.
LADWP crews are working to restore water services to the area after a valve got stuck on Tuesday and stopped the water flow.
KNX News has reached out to LADWP for their response.
