A family enjoying a Christmas morning stroll made a gruesome discovery on the beach in Palos Verdes Estates.
According to the Palos Verdes Estates Police Department, officers responded to a call around 7:00 a.m. on Christmas Day regarding the discovery of a human leg on the shoreline near the 800 block of Paseo del Mar.

"A passerby reported locating what they believed to be a portion of a human leg on the shoreline atop some rocks in the 800 block of Paseo del Mar," Captain Aaron Belda with the Palos Verdes Estates Police Department said. "Officers responded to assess the situation and requested that the coroner's office also respond."

The Los Angeles County Coroner's Office recovered the remains, and cadaver dogs were deployed to search the area for any additional human remains, but none were found.
Captain Belda stated that, at this time, there is no indication of foul play, and the coroner is working on identifying the remains.
