
Two people have been arrested and about $3.5 million worth of drugs were seized as part of an investigation into a large drug trafficking organization, the Huntington Beach Police Department announced on Thursday.
In a statement, the department said the arrests and drug seizure was the culmination of a 30-day investigation. The organization, based out of Mexico, was allegedly conducting pick-ups happening throughout Southern California and was allegedly shipping large amounts of drugs across state lines and into the state of New York, police said.
One suspect was arrested in Compton, allegedly in possession of two kilograms of cocaine, and was charged with possession with intent to sell.
Police said the second suspect was arrested in San Bernardino County with the assistance of the California Highway Patrol, and was allegedly in possession of 138 kilograms of cocaine and heroin, 12 pounds of methamphetamine and more than 1,000 fentanyl pills. The second suspect was charged with transportation and possession with intent to sell.
Police declined to identify either suspect due to the on-going nature of the investigation.
