On day three of the trial against social media giants, the head of Instagram took to the stand.
The young woman behind the landmark lawsuit is accusing Meta and YouTube of creating highly addictive and harmful sites. While Snapchat and Tiktok have settled, Adam Mosseri, the head of Instagram, denied that the app is intentionally addictive
Attorneys for the young woman asked Mosseri what they had done to make the app less habit-forming or promote unrealistic beauty standards. Mosseri said they removed filters that mimic plastic surgery... and kept ones that can be achieved by makeup. But the plaintiff's attorney said Instagram just hid the plastic surgery filters in the app.
Mosseri isn’t the only social media exec taking the stand. Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg is expected to be questioned in court next Wednesday.
