Investigators now say a fatal fire, that killed a man at a homeless encampment in Anaheim, was an apparent accident.
Anaheim Police Sgt. Shane Carringer tells KNX 1070 News it happened late last night behind an Extended Stay Motel - near the 91 Freeway and Tustin Avenue.
"The subject had lit candles near his belongings, near his makeshift bed and fallen asleep and that candle appeared to have set his belongings on fire ultimately burning him to death," says Carringer.
A man at the scene was detained after the fire was put out .. but police let him go after determining he had nothing to do with the fire.
