It’s been 100 years since the first See’s Candies store opened in Los Angeles – with a mother’s delicious recipes as the foundation.

From the beginning, Mary See used only the finest and freshest ingredients for her sweet creations – a tradition that continues to this day.

Pat Egan, who is the CEO of See’s Candies, says "We are the largest confectioner of our kind that doesn't add preservatives. And we still make it all here. Most of our ingredients are sourced out in California."

When Mary’s son, Charles opened his first See’s store in LA, he chose the now-iconic checkerboard theme inspired by the black-and-white kitchen of their Pasadena bungalow with this philosophy in mind.

"If you come into a See's store, you are part of the See's family. We take care of you, we know you and we want to give you the best possible service in addition to having the best candy," he says.

Over the past century, See’s has managed to weather some challenges: The Great Depression, rationing during World War II, and now the pandemic.

To celebrate their centennial, See’s is releasing a new Limited-Series candy each month.
