For more than 20 years, the Korean Air Lines 747 jetliner crossed the world. Now, a portion of it has a new home at L.A.’s California Science Center.
The KAL jet was retired in 2014 and spent a decade in storage before being donated to the Science Center at Exposition Park.
Curator Perry Roth Johnson called it a “signature experience.”
“People will not only be able to walk outside and around it, but inside of it, go into the forward main deck where we've installed the theater, where you'll have a simulated flight from L.A. to Seoul,” he said. “We shortened it to five minutes. You'll also be able to go up to the upper deck and explore the cockpit, something that people always want to see.”
Roth said the public will be able to go inside the plane in a few weeks.
