Our KNX Hero of the Week, Keisa Souza, is a retired U.S. Navy Veteran and singer who is sharing her voice in stadiums and arenas all over California!

Keisa has served all over the world, and still works as a civilian out at Point Mugu. She shared with KNX Heroes Host Heather Jordan that she's always loved singing, having had her first solo in church at the age of 4. After joining the Navy, she was asked to sing at numerous military events, and that's when she started singing the national anthem.
She’s performed the national anthem for numerous teams and sporting events, including the LA Dodgers, San Diego Padres, Angel City FC, the LA Kings, UCLA, and so many more!

For Keisa, singing the National Anthem is her way of giving back to the community and a way to represent veterans, as well as the military, mothers, and women of color.

“What I try to give is, you know, 90 seconds of unity,” she said. “We just celebrated Memorial Day, and I've lost a lot of friends who are family that I've met in the service, and I look in the crowd, and you see every bit of what makes America great. And so I try to deliver that in the best way I can for the veterans that see me still performing in uniform. I hope that they see someone who sees them, right? That recognizes the service that they gave, the sacrifices, and so that's why I still do it in uniform. So it's just my way of just saying in that 90 seconds, I know it's heavy, but I see you, I am you, and that we're better together.”
