When it comes to recognizing heroes in our community, it's only right to include Pasadena restaurateur and leader of the outreach program 'Bee A Little Better," Byron Takeuchi!
Every Thursday evening, Takeuchi gathers a team of volunteers to feed the homeless on Skid Row.
Week after week, rain or shine, the team hands out the extraordinary food from Takeuchi's restaurant, B-Man's Teriyaki & Burgers, along with any extras that get donated, like PB&J sandwiches—enough to feed around 200 people.

"I do it 'cause I wanna help," Takeuchi told Hero Host Heather Jordan. "We care about what we serve. We won't serve anything that we won't eat ourselves, so they appreciate that, and they appreciate that we're there every single week."
He said two crowed favorites are the teriyaki and home made soup.

The bee is known to symbolize hard work and community, and Takeuchi embodies that and more, giving hope and love to people who need a little boost.
It's an outpouring of love and Takeuchi says everyone is welcome to join.
"We make it easy for people to just step in, step out, come back. There's no pressure," he said. "We do what we can with what we have, and that's all we could do."

Takeuchi has been doing this volunteer work for more than 10 years, partnering with other programs and groups to give away other essentials in addition to the delicious food.

"It's all about making meaningful connections. It makes you feel good inside, you know, and you remember the ones that came up to you and thank you," he said. "That means the world, you know?"
