KNX Heroes: Compassionate group of OC Girl Scouts making a big difference
When a group of ambitious and compassionate kids get together, big things can happen.
For instance, over the winter holidays, 50 Girl Scouts from Orange County helped wrap and pack gifts and supplies for the kids at the non-profit Waymakers OC, a shelter and help center for families and children in need.

Troop 7370 hosted the event to raise money for the project they spearheaded called 'Operation Waymakers.'
Devon Noonan, 10, is one of the Girl Scouts who helped lead the project.

She tells Heroes Host Heather Jordan that giving her time to help others means a lot. "Well, it feels good because it's a good opportunity to give back to the community, knowing that these presents will go to kids who need them. For some of the people at Waymakers, that could be their only Christmas present," she said.
Noonan also said she likes Girl Scouts because they learn money management and people skills. "We get to sell cookies, and it's just fun. The service projects, and giving back to our community, what we can do with the cookie money we earn."
Speaking of cookies, they are now on sale! Noonan and her mom, Stacey, remind us that you can also donate cookies to military troops overseas and local organizations if you don't want them for yourself.
Our KNX Heroes of the Week are Devin Noonan and her fellow Girl Scouts of Orange County, each making a difference in our community.
