LOS ANGELES (KNX) – Los Angeles County has set a new daily record as public health officials announced 45,584 new COVID-19 cases on Sunday.
That brings the total amount of COVID-19 cases to 1,967,443 to date.
The latest data revealed 13 new deaths due to COVD-19 reported, however, officials said the deaths may reflect an undercount in weekend reporting.
The report found 3,364 people are hospitalized with COVID-19 and of the more than 10,317,000 people tested, 18% of people tested positive.
Health officials are still urging residents to wear medical grade masks and avoid crowded events, both indoors and outdoors.
"As the surge continues, we ask residents and businesses to continue following the public health safety measures that we know reduce spread and keep people safe," L.A County Public Health Director Barbara Ferrer said Saturday. "This includes wearing a medical grade mask that is more protective against the Omicron variant and not spending time around others who are unmasked. These upgraded masks can be a surgical mask or an N95 or KN95 respirator mask."
