LOS ANGELES (KNX) — Loosen your belts, there's two years of fair food to catch up on! That's the advice of the Los Angeles County Fair as organizers ramp up for the beloved Southern California fair's 100th year.
"After a two-year hiatus, the L.A. County Fair returns, kicking off its 100-day countdown to its Centennial anniversary celebration, which begins May 5," Fair organizers said online, adding that tickets and season passes are already on sale.

The Fair shut down during the 2020 and 2021 seasons due to COVID-19, which required Fairplex to trim staffing to a fraction of its usual team, organizers said.
"As a result, this first fair back has been planned with just a handful of team members – just like the very first fair."
Its theme is aptly titled "Back to our Roots," to celebrate the nostalgia and "simpler way of enjoying life that was the fair's foundation" when it opened 100 years ago in 1922.
Back then, organizers said, it was a simple beet and barley field in the heart of Pomona, Calif.
After years of celebrating in September, 2022 will be a little earlier. This year it begins in just three months, opening on Thursday, May 5 and going until Monday, May 30.
"We are thrilled to welcome back our guests and vendors to what is certainly going to be a sentimental return to the L.A. County Fair," said Walter Marquez, President and CEO of Fairplex.
"We’ve heard from guests how much they’ve missed the Fair. When the gates open in May, we will be back in the business of making memories."
As of this article's publication, you have 93 days left until fair food, rides, exhibits and animals!
