LOS ANGELES (KNX) – A captain for the Los Angeles County Fire Department died Wednesday night while on duty.
Fire Captain Steve McCann suffered a medical emergency at 9:30 p.m., and was taken to the hospital where he passed, the department told the multiple news outlets.
McCann worked with Fire Station 166 in El Monte, according to CBS L.A.
“The LACoFD along with the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors and Los Angeles County Firefighters, IAFF Local 1014 extend our deepest condolences and prayers to the McCann family along with our Department members who are mourning this difficult loss,” the department said in a statement.
A procession was scheduled to take place Thursday afternoon to transport his body to Pomona from Arcadia, CBS L.A. reported.
