Officials said they’re currently waiting for final confirmation from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

The patient is an adult who traveled recently and “had a known close contact to a case”, according to a news release. The patient is symptomatic, but is not in the hospitalization. They’re currently in isolation.

This comes a little over a week after California’s first suspected case was discovered in Sacramento County.

At this time, health officials say the risk of monkeypox in the general population is very low.
