LOS ANGELES (KNX) — A pedestrian was hit and killed by a Los Angeles Metro train on Tuesday in the Crenshaw area. A service stoppage along part of the Metro E Line (Expo) has been ordered as a result.

The collision occurred shortly before 5 a.m. at Exposition Boulevard and Seventh Avenue, according to a Metro spokesperson.

Westbound trains were operating from the Seventh Avenue Metro to Western Station and reversing back to Seven; eastbound trains were operating from downtown Santa Monica to Crenshaw station and reversing back to Santa Monica.

Metro has implemented a "Bus Bridge" shuttle service for affected passengers to use during the service stoppage. It will connect passengers between Western and Crenshaw stations in both directions.

Metro has recommended adding extra time to morning commutes on the Expo Line.

The identity of the struck pedestrian has not yet been released.
