LOS ANGELES (KNX) – The Los Angeles Police Department’s introduced an honorary member of its mounted unit.

The department said its officers in the Southeast Division found a “neglected and emaciated” horse and took it in.

“With the help of Hanaeleh Horse Rescue, we are proud to introduce a healthy Lou Dillon, who became an Honorary member of our LAPD mounted unit,” the department said, showing pictures of the horse.

The LAPD’s mounted unit was established in 1987 and includes a forty-horse barn.
