About a dozen protesters picketed outside the German consulate in Los Angeles on Monday, urging Germany and the United States to end military support to Israel.

“I want people to understand that the government of Israel is actively and deliberately starving 2.3 million people to death, and that it is a genocidal campaign,” Rick Chertoff with Jewish Voices for Peace told KNX News’ Craig Fiegener. “The United States continues to deliver weapons, and we're here in front of the German consulate because they are actively contributing weapons against a defenseless people.”

On Monday morning, Germany was accused at the International Court of Justice of breaching the UN’s genocide convention by sending weapons to Israel and halting its funding to the UN’s aid agency. 30% of Israel’s arms are supplied by Germany, and 65% are supplied by the U.S.

“For Germany, as a country where there's 300,000 Palestinians – one of the largest diasporas in Europe in Berlin – for them to still be providing arms to Israel is an insult,” said Mirvette Judeh with the Arab American Caucus and the SoCal Ceasefire Coalition.

More than 33,000 Palestinians have been killed since Israel launched its war in Gaza on October 7. Half of the area’s residents are on the brink of starvation, according to the Integrated Food Security Phase Classification.
