LA County gas prices rise 8 times in 9 days

LOS ANGELES (CNS) - The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County rose Saturday for the eighth time in nine days, increasing 1.5 cents to $4.595.

The average price has risen 5.2 cents over the past nine days, including two-tenths of a cent Friday, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service. It rose six consecutive days, dropped six-tenths of a cent on Thursday and resumed increasing on Friday.


The average price is 2.9 cents more than one week ago, but 2.1 cents less than one month ago and $1.341 lower than one year ago. It has dropped $1.899 since rising to a record $6.494 on Oct. 5, 2022.

The Orange County average price rose 1.9 cents to $4.532 after three consecutive decreases totaling 1.7 cents, including one-tenth of a cent Friday. It is 1 cent more than one week ago, but 1.2 cents less than one month ago and $1.167 lower than one year ago.

The Orange County average price has dropped $1.927 since rising to a record $6.459 on Oct. 5, 2022.

The national average price dropped for the second consecutive day following a four-day streak of increases totaling 3.9 cents, decreasing a half- cent to $3.204. It is 2.7 cents more than one week ago, but 3.8 cents less than one month ago and 44.2 cents lower than one year ago.

The national average price has dropped $1.812 since rising to a record $5.016 on June 14, 2022.
