Yet another group of L.A. city employees say they too deserve a pay raise.

They work with the Parks Department but in an untraditional way. They help assist with film and television shoots when they're on city property, especially at L.A. parks.

Park Monitor Jennifer Fay tells KNX News' Craig Fiegener, "For our particular esoteric position as park monitors 21 years ago, we started at $15 an hour, which was an ok wage back then. But today, we only make $22.68. So we're asking to be given what everyone else makes in this area, and that's $38 an hour."

Their labor union, AFSCME Local 3090, says an increase in film and television permit fees can offset their pay increase request.

But the union is massive, also representing 911 dispatchers and operators who want a pay increase with no apparent financial offset for their portion. And with a recent warning that Los Angeles is facing a budget shortfall that could top $400M, raises for all members could add to the city's financial troubles.

The contract for this entire labor group expired on December 30th.
