LOS ANGELES (CNS) - Make some noise for bicyclists in Los Angeles.
BikeLA has received nearly $17,000 from the Southern California Association of Governments for two programs that will benefit bicyclists in Los Angeles and Glendale.
Through the 2023 Go Human Community Hubs Grant Program, Bike Central LA and Walk Bike Glendale will receive funds to improve the biking services they offer.
Bike Central LA, Bike LA's newest chapter, will use the funds for its new program called Operation Elephant. It is a program designed to distribute loud digital bike horns for bicyclists in the high injury network. The horns will be distributed in East Hollywood, Westlake, downtown Los Angeles and Koreatown.
Walk Bike Glendale will use its funds to host a summer series of rides and workshops to inform bicyclists in south Glendale about riding conditions, accessibility and opportunities to improve safety.
Walk Bike Glendale will also survey Glendale residents and ask for input on advocacy priorities and connect people with community, commission and City Council meetings that include street safety discussions and planning.
