KNX News reporter Nataly Tavidian spoke with the mother's friend, who said she is the godmother of the deceased infant and her two year old brother.

The woman did not wish to be identified or recorded but said they've all been homeless, living together at LAX and delivering food until their truck broke down. While holding back tears, she said that it's been a struggle to find help, and they have been unable to find housing.

The mother of the child, Fay, later told Tavidian in an exclusive interview, that she does not know how her daughter died, but the girl was being fussy Thursday night which prompted her to give the child a small amount of Benadryl.

She said she was afraid to ask for help because she was concerned her children might be taken away.

Friday morning Fay woke up to her daughter foaming at the mouth.

"My worst fears was for me to have to bury my Children, and then this happened. Now I was gonna get her a pink urn because her favorite color was pink," Fay said.

LAPD said the coroner's office is leading an investigation into the cause of death for the child.

Fay said the family have been homeless since June, "I've been reaching out to the past agency in any shelter. I could find that takes families. I'm on a waitlist for everything. There's a wait list for public housing, and they said they just now started getting to the 2017 applications. So we were just out here, and we slept at LAX because that was the only place we could go."

A rep from the mayor's office was reported to be on the scene to help them find housing.
