A 13-year veteran of the Los Angeles Police Department was been arrested on Tuesday for allegedly filing a false report and perjury.

The Internal Affairs Group began investigating West Traffic Division Officer Alejandro Castillo over concerns related to a 2019 Driving Under the Influence arrest.

City Attorney Mike Feuer’s office noticed something in the review of video from the officer’s body-worn camera. Officials determined the video was inconsistent with the written report.

No charges were filed against the driver, but a felony arrest warrant was issued for the cop.

Castillo was arrested, relieved of his police powers and booked. However, he was later released on his own recognizance.

LAPD Chief Michael Moore said in a statement, “The allegations of an officer falsifying a police report are extremely troubling and there must be accountability.”

He added that the LAPD would be “fully cooperating” with the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office.
