The crash was reported at 6:15 a.m. near the intersection of Sherman Way and Woodman Avenue, according to police.
The officer was conscious and breathing when taken to a hospital, but there was no information available on the extent of injuries, said LAPD Media Relations Officer Kevin Terzes.
Another vehicle that was involved remained at the scene.
The crash and investigation, which is being handled by the LAPD's Valley Traffic Division, snarled morning traffic in the area.
