A Los Angeles Police Department officer may face charges for running a pedestrian over with her patrol car in South L.A. in December.

Police released edited footage of the moments before and after the incident on the department’s YouTube channel.

“As the officer approached the green phased tri-light signal on McKinley Avenue, a pedestrian was crossing southbound Century Boulevard outside of the marked crosswalk, when the officer’s vehicle collided with the pedestrian,” read the video’s caption. “The driver officer and responding officers began to perform Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) on the pedestrian.”

The footage shows Luis Espinoza running out into the street when the officer strikes him. She had a green light and her patrol lights were on.

After the incident the officer pulled over and called for help, according to the department. After more than a minute, she got out and administered aid to Espinoza.

He was taken to the hospital where he died.

The officer is on leave for the duration of the investigation. It’s up to the L.A. County District Attorney’s office to determine if there’s a crime.
