Los Angeles Unified School District Superintendent Alberto Carvalho was placed on administrative leave on Friday, just a couple of days after his home and LAUSD headquarters were raided by the FBI.

Andres Chait was named interim superintendent. He currently serves as Chief of School Operations and has been with the district for 27 years.

The decision comes after a two-day meeting by the members of the LAUSD Board of Education.

KNX News’ Nataly Tavidian reported that Carvalho has been placed on administrative leave pending investigation and that the board members did not disclose any information about the FBI search.

On Wednesday, Carvalho’s home was raided, as was the district’s headquarters in downtown L.A. Investigators also raided the Florida home of a woman named Debra Kerr, a salesperson for  "All-Here,” which is the company that won the bid to create LAUSD's chatbot, “Ed.”

The Los Angeles Times reported that Kerr and Carvalho have a documented history together.
