Non-tenured professors, lecturers, and other faculty members at nine of the ten UC campuses were planning to walk off the job on Wednesday and Thursday to protest labor issues, including low pay and lack of job stability.

The agreement reached Wednesday morning includes implementation of a transparent performance review system, a pathway to becoming a “senior continuing lecturer,” a $1,500 signing bonus and 3% annual raises, expanded retirement and health benefits, and other changes favorable to union membership.

Noon celebratory rallies are planned at UCLA at Bruin Plaza and UC Irvine outside Aldrich Hall. Celebrations are planned at UC Riverside at the bell tower near Rivera Library and at UC San Diego in the Gilman Parking Structure.
