Long Beach man suspected of stabbing mother to death: police

LONG BEACH, Calif. (KNX) — A woman in her 50s is dead after being stabbed to death by her son, Long Beach police alleged Tuesday.

The victim’s identity has not yet been disclosed, but investigators said she was stabbed “multiple times in the upper body during an argument” with her son at their shared apartment in the 1000 block of Pacific Avenue.

Police responded to the scene shortly after 9:30 a.m. They found the victim unresponsive on arrival. She was transported by Long Beach firefighters to a local hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.

The son, whose name is also being withheld, is believed to be in his 20s. He was arrested after a witness identified him as the attacker, Long Beach police said.

Police said there were no other individuals inside the apartment at the time of the alleged stabbing.
