More than 100 firefighters from 16 fire companies put out a major emergency blaze at a large, metal-clad commercial building in the Green Meadows area of Los Angeles Monday morning.

The fire was reported at 2:57 a.m. at 8720 S. San Pedro St., according to the Los Angeles Fire Department's Margaret Stewart. The flames were out at 4:18 a.m. after one hour and 21 minutes.

The building was well involved in flames when firefighters arrived and they took up defensive positions outside the building to more safely train water on the flames and defend an adjoining cabinetry business, Stewart said.

Flames started moving inside the cabinetry business but crews were able to enter and put out the flames, she said.

No injuries were reported, Stewart said. Arson investigators were summoned to determine the cause of the fire.

San Pedro Street was expected to remain closed from Manchester Avenue to 87th Street through the morning commute.
