Is the state of California headed in the right direction? According a new poll, most of the state’s residents believe it’s not.
The survey, conducted by the Public Policy Institute of California, showed more than six out of every 10 Californians expect economic distress sometime in the next year.
The most pessimistic respondents were Republicans with a whopping 80% believing the state is headed for some hard times financially.
Independents weren’t quite so adamant but still had a negative future of the future with 68% responding pessimistically.
Even Democrats approached majority negativity with 45% expecting trouble on the horizon.
Specifically asked if the Golden State was “headed in the wrong direction,” almost six in 10 respondents say it is.
“Even if California skirts a recession, high prices and growing inequality nevertheless threaten Californians’ sense of economic security, especially for low-income residents,” the PPIC said of their findings in a press release.
