Man, 70, arrested for alleged intoxicated driving in Cathedral City

A 70-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence after he collided into multiple vehicles, causing minor injuries to two other people in Cathedral City, authorities said Thursday.

The initial crash was reported at approximately 1:50 p.m. Wednesday in the area of Avenida Los Ninos and Ramon Road, the Cathedral City Police Department announced.

Police said Frank Corona of Hemet was at the wheel of a Honda CR-V southbound on Avenida Los Ninos when he crashed into two parked vehicles, then continued westbound on Ramon Road where he collided with a Nissan Quest minivan.

Corona and two minivan occupants were transported to a hospital for minor injuries.

Corona was booked into the John Benoit Detention Center in Indio, where he was being held on $50,000 bail for suspicion of DUI causing bodily injury.
