Man arrested for fatally pushing woman in front of moving train

RIVERSIDE, Calif. (KNX) — A man seen arguing with a woman in Riverside Monday was arrested for pushing her in front of an oncoming train, killing her, police said Thursday.

Kevin Errol Lewis,41, was spotted by witnesses verbally fighting with the woman around 6:35 a.m. Monday, along the railraod tracks on Madison Street, according to the Riverside Police Department. Witnesses said the fight got physical when Lewis allegedly pushed her into the path of an oncoming train.

The woman's name has not been released by police, as they have yet to make contact with her family.

Lewis, a Riverside resident, was arrested and booked into the Robert Presley Detention Center on charges of murder, domestic violence, and several outstanding warrants for theft and narcotics violations. He has since been moved to the Larry D. Smith Correctional facility and is being held on $10,000 bail.

Both Lewis and the woman killed are believed to have been homeless, police said.
