FULLERTON (CNS) - A 34-year-old man wanted on warrants for sexual assault and assault on a police officer was behind bars Thursday on suspicion of trespassing in a Cal State Fullerton building, police said.

Romayne Demetrice Bassingame was being held on $21,500 bail, according to jail records.

Campus police on patrol saw a door slam at Mihaylo Hall about 12:35 a.m. Thursday and spotted Blassingame exit, Cal State Fullerton police Capt. Scot Willey said.

Most of the faculty and students are on summer vacation, which leads local transients to break into campus buildings around this time of the year, Willey said.

"We're not even sure how he got in unless he was there before they locked up," Willey said. "That's not uncommon. We have people prop doors open. It's a constant challenge all the time."

Police intended to cite him for just trespassing so they asked him for his ID, but he tossed his wallet at them and ran off, Willey said. The suspect had five outstanding warrants that also included burglary and theft, Willey said.

Police also found 25 throwing stars on him, which is a felony on a school campus, Willey said. Police also found what appeared to be methamphetamine on him, Willey said.
