On Wednesday, workers at an LGBTQ center in Southeast Los Angeles removed 125 bags of dog poop from their awning.

It’s happening at Mi SELA on Florence Avenue in the city of Bell. Eddie Martinez, executive director at the center, told KNX News’ Emily Valdez that security video shows that every morning, a man walks his dog in front of the center and throws a bag of dog poop onto the awning.

“He knows who we are,” he said. “He looks at the cameras.”

Martinez said it’s been happening for several months and that they’ve done what they could to increase security.

“We strengthen our camera system,” he said. “The security system kept missing the person that was throwing the bags, but we finally were able to identify the person through video footage. We provided the information to the police department, and it wasn't until December we found out where this individual lives.”

He said that because littering is not a crime, the police can’t arrest the guy. He did add that police have reached out to the man, but it's still unclear if they've been able to talk to him. The city is also going to take action to see if the man is violating any ordinance and cite the person.

Martinez says the center is there not only help LGBTQ youth but also educate their families and spread kindness.
