Investigators are looking into the death of a man deep inside the Metro red line tunnel in North Hollywood.
Around 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, emergency crews were called out to the tunnel between the Lankershim and Universal City stations. Firefighters said they had to hike about a mile into the tunnel, where they found the man dead.
“We located an approximately 30-year-old male who unfortunately was beyond medical help and determined deceased on scene,” Los Angeles City Fire spokesperson Margaret Stewart told KNX News’ Emily Valdez.
Police said the man was trespassing and wasn’t a Metro employee. Initial reports suggest he may have been electrocuted, but Stewart said it’s also possible he was struck by a train.
