Authorities Tuesday identified a man who was fatally shot in Gardena.
Officers were sent to the 15100 block of Vermont Avenue at about 3:30 a.m. Monday after receiving "a call of a male down with a possible gunshot wound in front of the location," according to Lt. Christopher Cuff of the Gardena Police Department.

"Upon arrival, officers discovered the victim had been shot in the torso," Cuff said. "Despite efforts by the Los Angeles County Fire Department, the victim was pronounced deceased at the scene."
On Tuesday, the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner identified the man as Mark Goode, 35, who was homeless. The shooting reportedly occurred in front of a skilled nursing facility.
